Location
Farmyard Studios is situated in the inspiring landscape
of the Cotswold hills and is just a couple of miles from the
picturesque villages of Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.
With views over the Windrush valley and a wonderful sheltered
garden, this is an ideal environment to escape the distractions
of everyday life and concentrate on producing a fantastic
recording.
The Studio Itself
From the outside the studio building may look fairly conventional
but this is misleading, as it is actually an Eco-building.
This basically means that wherever possible it was constructed
using environmentally friendly and sustainable materials.
To give a few examples of this the studio is built on the
site of some old farm buildings so the existing concrete foundations/footings
were re-used. Most of the concrete blocks from these old buildings
were also salvaged and re-used. The roof timbers are all untreated
pine from a sustainable source and most of the doors and windows
are either reclaimed or recycled. The studio is also very
heavily insulated; this mainly consists of scoured sheep’s
wool ( a waste product of the manufacturing industry ).
So, what does this mean to you the customer? Well for one
thing all that insulation means the studio is nice and warm
in winter and comfortably cool in summer. Also the lack of
materials containing various poisonous chemicals
( such as Formaldehyde in most chipboards/plyboards etc )
creates a more healthy working environment. In addition all
this simply makes Farmyard Studios even more interesting and
unusual
Disabled Access
The studio is just a few metres from the parking area and
there are no steps or stairs to climb, this makes life easier
for everyone, particularly those with disabilities. There
is even a very comfortable, padded wheelchair in the studio.
